Second Grade Butterfly Garden Project

Both second grade classes recently received a $750.00 grant to establish a butterfly garden on the library side of Brown School. This grant is provided by Portland Trails, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping connect kids with nature on their school grounds.

Mrs. Letourneau and I are excited about this project because it will improve the landscaping at Brown School and also help kids to better understand insects and their habitats. The study of insects is also one of our science topics for second grade.
